From September 2017 Catholic Care’s Schools, Children & Family Wellbeing Service will be delivering the ‘Safer Futures’ Education Programme. The programme will raise awareness of domestic abuse working with schools across the Diocese.
The programme has been developed by National Women’s Aid, it is evidence based and well evaluated.
There is an age appropriate lesson plan to be delivered to children from Reception to Y13. The programme educates about Domestic Abuse giving children an opportunity to talk about current or historical issues and promotes none violent and none aggression positive relationships.
The social workers spend the morning delivering a 1 hour lesson plan across the school followed by a ‘drop in’ for those children who want to talk on a one to one basis.
