Mgr. Donal Lucy officially opens Leopold Villa offering apartments for senior ladies and gentlemen.

After months of sensitive refurbishment, Catholic Care proudly threw open the doors of its newly completed Leopold Villa development of luxury new apartments for senior ladies and gentlemen on Robert Street in central Harrogate on Thursday 25th June 2015.

Even before the green door officially opened interested people were coming for a look round the fabulous show apartment and to discuss the support offered and they continued to come all afternoon and well into the evening.  Some St Robert’s parishioners enjoyed their own special tea party in the dining room feasting on cream teas.  It was pleasing to see people from all walks of life including health & social care professionals, Councilors, SVP members, mature people themselves and their family members.

Mgr. Lucy officially cut the ribbon and joined in the celebrations “I am amazed” he said “that such beautiful accommodation could be produced from the old club which used to occupy the building”

Adjacent to the newly redeveloped Catholic Club on Robert Street, Leopold Villa includes four new high specification apartments (two x two bedroom and two x one bedroom) available to buy and designed with the needs of independent senior people in mind.  Each apartment incorporates a top quality kitchen with integral oven, hob and fridge, an en-suite bath or shower room, central heating and carpets and curtains throughout. Communal facilities include a lift to all floors, lounge for social relaxation, activities, entertainment and dining, a laundry for personal use and facilities for a visiting hairdresser.

More than just a beautiful apartment, Leopold Villa also supports residents with a care and support package tailored to their individual needs and including a daily main meal available in your apartment or the shared lounge, weekly service charge covering all maintenance and bills, 24-hour emergency call system with on-site response from the in-house team and a social and leisure programme. Extra care and support can be added on as required.

Carol Hill, Director of Catholic Care says: “We run a lot of programmes designed to support the social and care needs of older people from all faiths across the diocese. Our focus is very much on supporting the wellbeing of those we work with and Leopold Villas has been developed with that philosophy in mind. Our prices and fees have been fairly set to ensure we cover our costs rather than make a profit, ensuring we can continue to fund the wide range of activities supporting old and young alike across our area.”

“We’re delighted to have given this beautiful building a new purpose and to contribute generally to the overall appearance of this part of town.”
