Many of our young people living in care have never experienced a holiday, not to mention a holiday abroad; even getting to their holiday destination by train or plane is a new experience and can be quite a challenge.
On the 3rd of August one young person from our Leeds Children’s Home had his dreams come true when he holidayed in Disneyland Paris. The adventure began at Leeds train station with a journey down to London to meet the Euro Star and the “scary” journey through the Chanel Tunnel before eventually arriving at the Resort. The young person was super excited and immediately got into the swing of things watching the parade whilst enjoying a delicious ice cream.
Dinner on the first evening was at a retro diner called “Annette’s” where the young person was impressed at the waitresses wearing rollerblades.
The second day of the holiday was a trip to Paris to experience the sites including the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower. A river cruise was great and the young person looked in awe at Notre Dame and various other historical buildings.
Back in Disney the car stunt show proved a real winner “this was the most amazing and exciting thing ever” said the absolutely thrilled young person who loves all things automobile!
All good things come to an end and on the evening of the third day two tired members of staff and their charge boarded the train home. “Thank you” the young person said “for such a brilliant time.”
